    Physical Education (PE)

At Silver End Academy, our Physical Education curriculum aims to develop pupils’ physical competence, confidence, and enjoyment of movement, supporting their lifelong health and well-being. Following the Primary PE Planning scheme, we deliver a broad and balanced programme that nurtures physical literacy and inspires all children to lead active, healthy lifestyles.

    Our curriculum:

    • Develops fundamental movement skills (FMS) as the foundation for more complex physical activities and sports.

    • Provides a carefully planned and progressive sequence of lessons that build skills, knowledge, and understanding across a wide range of physical activities.

    • Encourages pupils to apply insights from related disciplines such as physiology, psychology, and sociology to enhance performance and participation.

    • Promotes the development of teamwork, communication, resilience, and respect through collaborative and competitive activities.

    • Emphasises safe practice, teaching children to understand risk, make sensible decisions, and take responsibility for their own health and well-being.

    • Supports pupils in making informed lifestyle choices that contribute to their physical and mental health.

    • Offers both curriculum PE lessons and extra-curricular opportunities, enabling all pupils to engage in physical activity beyond the classroom.

    • Ensures inclusivity, making PE accessible, enjoyable, and challenging for every child, regardless of ability or background.

At Silver End Academy, we are committed to providing a high-quality PE education that empowers pupils to know more, do more, and live active, healthy lives.
