At Silver End Academy, our Geography curriculum is designed to help pupils understand the world around them, fostering a sense of place and an appreciation of the physical and human processes that shape our environment. Following the Lion Pathways scheme, we aim to equip pupils with the knowledge, skills, and vocabulary needed to explore, question, and make informed decisions about the world.

Our curriculum:

• Builds progressively on key geographical knowledge and concepts, ensuring pupils develop a secure and connected understanding of places, environments, and spatial patterns.

• Develops skills in geographical enquiry, including asking questions, collecting and analysing data, using maps and other sources, and drawing conclusions.

• Encourages understanding of interactions between people and their environments, including the impact of human activity on the natural world.

• Provides opportunities to study local, national, and global contexts, helping pupils appreciate diversity and interdependence.

• Emphasises the use of accurate geographical vocabulary and technical terms to support clear communication of ideas.

• Ensures progression through thoughtfully sequenced content, allowing pupils to build on prior learning and deepen their understanding over time.

• Incorporates time for consolidation and practice, enabling pupils to retain key knowledge and develop analytical and fieldwork skills.
