In Science this term we are learning all about plants. We have been busy planting Lilly bulbs and Sunflower seeds. We will be looking after them as a class and watching them grow.
We have also set up an experiment with Cress seeds to discover what seeds need to grow. We have put them in 4 different conditions. 1 with sunlight and water. 1 with sunlight but NO water. 1 with no sunlight and water and 1 with No sunlight and No water. We will be studying them over the next few weeks to see what happens.
In phonics this week we have been looking at root words, suffixes and prefixes.
A prefix is a group of words that are added at the start of a root word and change its meaning- such as the root word happy when we add the prefix un it becomes unhappy.
A suffix is a group of letters that are added to the end of the root word and change its meaning- such as the root word nice when we add the suffix er it becomes nicer

This week has been quite exciting in Year 2. We have been tasting pizzas as part of our Creative Links- Design and Technology lessons. The children all had a go at trying 3 different pizzas; Cheese and Tomatoes, Ham & Pineapple or Pepperoni. The children enjoyed trying different pizzas some they had not tried before. They then had to decide which pizza was their favourite and why. They also had to decide which pizza they were not very keen on and why.
We had some great discussions about which pizza they enjoyed the most. Some children even said "I don't usually like pizza but that was yummy"
This half term we have been looking at books by the same author. We are currently looking at books by Julia Donaldson.
Here are two of the books we have been looking at.
